So the Web Goddess and I heard that Disney+ was about to take Willow off the service, and, having enjoyed the movie back in the day, decided to see it while it was available. We watched late into the night and managed to see four episodes.
The next day, it was gone.
Oops.
The episodes we did see were entertaining high fantasy with a heavy dollop of humour. It was a winning combination, made all the more delightful by the excellent production values (when I used to write film criticism, I became really tired of meat and potatoes direction, and am always looking for film and TV productions that have a strong visual style) and engaging performances.
Hopefully, Willow will eventually be released on DVD so we can see the episodes we missed. There is a chance that another streaming service will pick the series up, but as has been pointed out to me, the possibility of Disney letting go of any of its properties is razor thin. So, DVD it likely will be.
