Thank you, Tarantula Turner, for signing up for The Daily Me. Our search engine has combed the Internet for up to the minute news items that fit the profile you have so painstakingly filled out for us. Then, we weighted the probability that you would be interested in these articles against forms which showed what people with tastes similar to yours have liked reading in the past. And, then, we laughed when our knees told us they couldn’t bend the way they used to when we were young. We scoffed when our eyes told us they couldn’t see as well as they used to when we were young. We jeered when our ears told us they couldn’t hear as well as they used to when we were young (loudly to ensure that they heard us). Unfortunately, we had to take our anus seriously when it told us it couldn’t process food as well as it used to when we were young. William Burroughs should stop giving body parts ideas!
Enjoy,

If Pearl Clutching Was An Olympic Sport, She Would Have A Tough Decision About What To Wear Around Her Neck!

“And I will make this argument right up to the moment it comes to a vote, at which point I will side with the President because reasons.”
Senator Susan Collins is the Lucille van Pelt of American politics: always holding out hope that if her actions match her words, she will do the right thing, always pulling the political football away from Charlie Blue at the last moment.
This was the Senator who was “shocked, shocked, I tell you” to discover that Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, despite telling Congress how much he loved stare decisis at his confirmation hearings (prompting many to tell him to “get a room,” then immediately regretting the decision because of the image it put in their heads), voted to overturn Roe v Wade. Court watchers warned her that would be the case. Law and Order watchers warned her that would be the case. Boiling pots of water watchers warned her that would be the case. She voted to confirm him anyway.
At this point, I wouldn’t trust her to boil an egg even if the instructions were etched into the side of the pot and she took a twelve week course from a world-famous chef on the proper way to prepare eggs, let alone a vote on important political issues. So, why do Maine voters keep electing her despite the fact that she consistently screws them? I guess she reminds many of them of their kindly old grandmother.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go and wash that image out of my head!

“Drill, Baby, Drill!”*
INT. MEETING ROOM (ITTOQQORTOORMIIT, GREENLAND) – DAY
Greenland Energy Company Board Member RODERICK McILLTREE sits across the table from Greenlander AAGE MUSKOX.
RODERICK McILLTREE: I understand you have some concerns about drilling for oil off the coast near your home.
AAGE MUSKOX: Concerns? Concerns‽ I have some deep, bloody problems with it!
McILLTREE: That’s why Greenland Energy wanted to talk to –
MUSKOX: If you’re “Greenland” Energy, why are you based in Texas?
McILLTREE: I can assure you that, although our company belongs in Texas, our hearts will always belong to Greenland.
MUSKOX: Uh hunh. Is that why Greenland will only get 15% of the profits from the sale of our oil?
McILLTREE: Be reasonable, Aage. Greenland Energy will be risking a lot of money investing in your country. We deserve to be fairly compensated.
MUSKOX: Un hunh. You said this stretch of Greenland had the same geology as the North Sea oil fields, which yielded billions of barrels. Didn’t sound like there was much risk there, you ask me.
McILLTREE: (shrugs philosophically) Life is full of risk. You walk out of your house on a clear, sunny day and your umbrella gets hit by a bus. There are no guarantees.
Pause.
MUSKOX: You brought a barge of equipment to the village even though your permit had expired.
McILLTREE: (philosophically shrugs) What is time, really? A straight line or a loop. If it’s a loop, the permit would have been good again. We just didn’t want to wait 17 billion years – can you blame us?
MUSKOX: Un hunh. A few days after you did that, you unloaded another piece of heavy equipment without proper notification.
McILLTREE: We did kind of…screw the pooch on that one. We feel very bad about that. In our defence, it was an ugly dog, wrinkled and missing most of its teeth.
MUSKOX: You crushed my wife’s petunia patch.
McILLTREE: (again with the shrugging and the philosophy) Well, that’s progress, isn’t it? For every person who benefits, there’s always somebody whose petunia patch must be destroyed. But ask yourself this question: in these times of economic uncertainty, don’t you want the jobs that will come with this project?
MUSKOX: Ermm…can I get back to you on that?
McIlltree beams.
