So, the house my family lives in came with a pool in the back yard. For the last several years, a family of ducks have made it a stop on their spring migration south. For us, this is the real sign that winter is over.
In previous years, there were two adults and three or four ducklings. This year, there were only two adults. One can speculate on why – perhaps they no longer enjoyed traveling with the kids and palmed them off on a relative for the summer. Perhaps, as a friend of mine suggested, they are empty nesters heading for Florida while their children make their own migratory path.
Whatever the case, enjoy the ducks!
